Our first impression was pretty negative. The room we got smelled like cigerattes, we felt there was no AC. However when we went to the front desk, they gave us a different room immediately and showed us how to turn on AC. The condition of the building wasnt great, and hard to locate the entrance but their service by far made for it. Initially hotels.com allowed me to book the hotel only for 3 nights. However by contacting property directly they assured me I could stay another night, and it was hassle free when I checked in. Location is amazing. You basically walk opposite and end up in Ximending Walking Street where all the happening things are. We were able to give them our clothes for laundry, and they delivered clean clothes in a nice bag to our room. Housekeeping was exceptional, and was very clean everyday. Amenities were appropriate. The front desk also helped change currency for us in small amounts. When I asked for luggage repair service as flight damaged my bag, they volunteered to give me one of their own suitcases.They booked an airport taxi for us at same rate as Uber at 6 am, but the front desk guy helped us take down the luggage and put it in the cab. Overall the initial look is not cleanest, and there is some smoking odor in the lobby despite being non-smoking facility but if you can get a nice room their service is exceptional and rooms are very spacious and comfortable.

It was a nice, comfortable room. The shower head was positioned much too low, and it really just has a tub instead of a shower. It also did not have AC but did have a fan.

Old building, the air conditioner is not functioning very well, the stuff is smelly.

AC is just a button for ON and OFF but it kept a really comfortable temperature during our stay (late November). The door wasn’t very sturdy at all and if someone wanted to enter I’m sure they would be able to without much force. The reception seems to be manned 24/7 though so I doubt that anyone would find the opportunity to enter unnoticed. We brought our most valuable stuff whenever we left the room and locked our bags to a chair for some extra peace of mind.The location is really good, even with the 10-15 minutes walk to the subway. It’s just across the street from the liveliest streets in Ximending but still far away enough to not be disturbed by the masses of people.The elevator is at the first floor, where you’ll also find the reception, so if you can’t walk the two flights you should look elsewhere. All in all we’re really happy with our stay and will most likely return next time we’re in Taipei.

Unmittelbar an die Ximenting, der stets bevölkerten Einkaufsmeile Taipeis, grenzt dieses kleine Hotel. Zwar ist die Ausstattung natürlich nicht vom allerfeinsten - das kann man bei dem Preis auch nicht erwarten - es fehlt aber auch an nichts. Das Personal ist ausgesprochen freundlich und hilfsbereit, die Sauberkeit ist absolut hervorragend und lässt absolut nichts zu wünschen übrig. Die Klimaanlage und die angrenzenden Straßen sind zwar etwas laut, aber für geräuschempfindliche Menschen ist Taipei ohnehin nicht zu empfehlen; mit Ohrstöpseln allerdings kein Problem. Für Leute, denen es nicht auf raffinierten Luxus ankommt sondern eher das Budget im Blick haben, ist das Hotel unbedingt empfehlenswert.

It was a nice stay. Very close to the xmd subway station. Close to the xmd district. The front counter people are very nice and friendly. Will stay here again

Very much enjoyed my stay at Food Chang Hotel as a matter of fact I was there for three days and then I went out of town and came back and book the same room the sauna and the rooms are incredible the staff are amazing I got my laundry done everything was good I had no problem with the area I felt very safe there very much enjoyed it

The hotel is looking a little tired. It needs updating. Staff are really friendly and location is good. Please note: lift access is only available on second floor. So you have two flights of stairs before you get to reception

The location was right next to the city 西門 and only 5-10 min to the big station named Xemen (Ximen?). Good points of this hotel are the location and stuff. Even thought the stuff at the hotel didn’t speak fluently, their English was good enough to understand each other. Disappointed points are hotel’s smell and the room and supplies. The smell was just like a public restroom... we didn’t smell it inside of our room but started smelling right after we turned on the air conditioner. Also there were some holes on walls inside of the bathroom and the hotel was right next to a big road so it was quite noisy but it was fine after we closed a bathroom door. The supplies, they give you enough supplies like tooth brushes and soap and shampoos. But the bath towels they gave me seemed liked they’ve been using so long so it had many holes. The bath towels were clean tho.

Rooms are pretty small, but I think it’s okay. Open luggage and there’s spaces to move around. Staff is friendly, helpful and approachable!!No lift from first to second level (where reception is located), however the staff has helped us with the luggage!! Room not very soundproof, but luckily the time I stayed not many guest is noisy.Hotel is pretty far away from Ximen MRT Exit 6. But is located close to Cinema district.

Die Lage mitten im In-Viertel Ximen ist sehr gut. 10-15 Minuten Fußweg vom U-Bahnhof Ximen gelegen ist es in der direkten Umgebung nachts ruhig, aber der Trubel nicht weit.Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.Der Empfang befindet sich in der zweiten Etage des Gebäudes, erst ab dort gibt es einen Aufzug. Gepäck muss also ein Stockwerk weit geschleppt werden. Auch danach befinden sich vor dem Aufzug noch einige Treppenstufen. Ebenso gibt es eine Stufe im Raum. Nicht schlimm, sollte Interessenten aber im Vorfeld bewusst sein.Die Zimmer sind sauber und in altmodisch-westlichem Stil mit Parkettboden eingerichtet. Leider sind sie aber extrem hellhörig, vom Flur und den Zimmern nebenan ist nahezu jedes Geräusch zu hören. Dadurch kann die Nacht etwas anstrengend werden.Licht ließ sich nur über Schalter neben dem Bett einschalten, abends ist es also nötig, ohne Licht von der Tür bis zum Bett durch den Raum zu laufen. Übermäßig hell ist es auch mit Licht nicht, aber ausreichend. Fenster nur im Bad vorhanden.Das Bad ist nur durch eine nicht verschließbare Schwingtür vom Raum getrennt, die nicht annähernd schließt. Privatsphäre ist also nicht gegeben, sofern das Zimmer nicht alleine belegt wird. Die Dusche ist nicht für große Personen geeignet (vmtl. ok bis 1,75m Größe), da sowohl die Decke niedrig als auch der Duschschlauch sehr kurz ist. Immerhin gibt es eine Badewanne mit Duschvorhang, so dass nicht immer das gesamte Bad geflutet wird, wie sonst in Asien üblich.

Das Badezimmer ist sehr alt, aber sauber und groß. Man kann die Fenster nichtöffnen und hat kein Frühstück. Aber die Betten sind gut, man hat aber nicht dasBedürfnis sich länger im Hotel aufzuhalten. Aber insgesamt ist es ok, da das Personal sehr nett ist unddie Lage zentral am Rande von Ximen (Nachtmarkt). Es ist toll, dass die Zimmer einen Holzfußboden hatten.

The hotel supplies what a guest basic needs. From daily supply of water, fresh towels and fresh bedding everyday. comfy bed that you can have a good night sleep. Very close to ximen station exit 6 to Ximending. Lots of things to do in the area. From eating to shopping.

A bit old but very clean and excellent service from the staff. Very convenient location, easy to get to MRT station.

Room was not as represented in the photos though staff were friendly. Hotel is at the furthest end from commending area, amongst motor workshops and next to major highway

Nettes kleines Hotel mit allem nötigen, was man braucht. Wasserkocher, Tee und Kaffee für den morgendlichen Kaffee, alles andere zum Frühstücken bzw. Lunch gibts 300 m weiter in der Fußgängerzone (Restaurants, Starbucks, Straßenimbisse etc...)

Very Bad smell in the room even change to the new room with free upgrade and no bath tub in the room that we stay.
